in 1928 the olympic games took place in amsterdam . next to the entrance to the olympic stadium heroic figures of athletes were erected on top of stone pillars. two such columns were left untouched for 75 years. marathon man is a monument for the anti hero, it presents an ode to the unknown loser who never made it to the headlines.
